And it's BEGUN!
Also, the starting post of my first confessional here started with 'And'. Isn't that fantastic? An amazing grammatical start to my game.
Pre game has been interesting. Staying on top of 6 conversations on AIM at once is shockingly difficult! Probably about half the game showed up today and actually talked on AIM. Most just took off to bed and the conversations were pretty much copy/paste:
"Hey"
"Hey. How's it going?"
"Good. You?"
"Good. Heading to bed"
"Okay good night!"
Boring shit!
These are fairly expected, so it's not really a big deal. Tells me nothing at this stage really. So I'll go with the few that stuck around for actual conversations.
My first and longest conversation was with Natalie. We hit it off pretty much right away, no problem. It was pretty evident from the start that we liked different things (talking about Grey's Anatomy, Destiny's Child). Most of her conversation topics I had nooo idea how to respond to, so I played that up and it turned into a good conversation kinda comparing the differences between us and giving a glimpse into a different life. Overall, she was a good conversation and some I that I think will trust me as the game goes on. She claims that I'm her favourite for now, and I of course returned the compliment, but I'm not so sure that was true. I feel like I'm going to struggle a bit later on with conversations with her based on the differences. She seems a bit disinterested at times if I try to bring any other conversation topic in, so I worry that may carry over to game related things. I don't want to 'fall under her control' or anything. She could be a louder scapegoat later on.
Jim Lynch. Instantly I can tell he's an intelligent player. He's able to keep a conversation going and on a good topic that may not be intuitive to many players. He knows I'm newer, but seems to think I pick up quickly for a newb. I think I'll try to play on that and act as maybe an under his wing type of character, following him. I do imagine he'll be a threat later on, but these are early thoughts and who knows what will happen.
Next up was Liz. This one was difficult to get into. I was lobbing a number of topics at her near the start seeing if anything would catch up but I'd get one or two word replies. It was fairly disappointing. I got nothing out of the other players for opinions on her, but they also might be trying to be kind at the start of the game. I really need to know if other players had the same issue I had. Whether she could be an easy boot or she didn't like me to begin with. I finally got a half decent conversation going when I dragged history out of her. Recommended a podcast and she perked right up. The conversation honestly took a 180 at this point and I'm curious to see if it holds up.
The last big conversation of the night was my favourite. An honest immediate bromance. Woo Hwang. That sweet, cute bastard. He's hyper and excited and just ready to play. It was like over an hour of just random shit talking for us and we bonded pretty well. He even smacked my ass He's one I wanna have a bit more control of because I can see him branching out possibly blindly. Having the first feelers out for him is going to be an advantage, I think. I worry that he has friends in this game though. We'll see what happens...
(I hope this was a good confessional post! No idea what I'm doing!)
